A recent survey found that 50% of Democrats are fans of the NFL, while 59% of Republicans are fans. A total of 2,334 adults were interviewed on-line during the week of September 8th to gather these results.
Hey, I don’ t know about you but, I feel so much better that I can now click this piece of information off my ‘Bucket List’ of things I needed to know in life. You know, I was asking a friend just the other day, “How many Democrats and Republicans are fans of the NFL?” What do you want to bet that the survey was funded by a government grant?
I think it would be interesting to ask NFL players how many of them are fans of politicians. I can hear the responses now:
“Well, you know, I just want to be a team player. I just want to show up each game and do my best.”
“Goooollly! I didn’t know the politicians had a team. Where do they play? When do we play them on our schedule?”
“Yo! Those Denver Donkeys better not come into my backyard to play! We’ll whup their fat butts all over the field!”
“Politicians? Who the heck are they? Did the NFL change its mind and let Rush Limbaugh buy a team?”
“Yeah, I heard something about those politicians wanting to get into the game. Unfortunately, they can’t actually field a team because they all just want to be coaches giving orders.”
I guess we’ll have to excuse the fact that these NFL players are not better informed. Although, on rainy fields, they do have one thing in common with the politicians — in both arenas there is a lot of mudslinging going on.
Anyway, watching the Dems and Repubs play a game of football wouldn’t last very long. When the ‘whistle blower’ signaled the end of the first play, all the Republicans would leave the field and run for cover. And, four plays later, the Democrats would score.
